Daniel Hashimi moved his family to Pasadena in order to enroll his three children in New Horizon School Pasadena. In 2015, Daniel joined the Board of Trustees for the New Horizon School Pasadena. Daniel serves as the Senior Assistant General Counsel for the Southern California Public Power Authority where he provides legal counsel to the Authority Board of Commissioners, management and staff on a variety of business, commercial and legal matter, including the negotiation of complex renewable energy transactions. Before joining the Authority in 2011, Daniel enjoyed a successful career as a licensed professional engineer, most recently with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Daniel is also a registered patent attorney by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Daniel is very passionate about New Horizon School Pasadena’s mission and vision, in particular its critical role in nurturing moral growth and instilling a solid Muslim American identity in each and every student.

Ruba Alami
 is a proud parent of two NHS students. In addition to her 12 years of experience in the field of public accounting and finance, Ruba is currently in the process of completing a doctorate in clinical psychology. Ruba joined the Board of Trustees in 2014 and currently serves on the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees. She grew up in Jerusalem and is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington DC. She resides in Pasadena with her husband, Dr. Ayman Saad, and her two daughters Nour and Serene.

Ximena Michell is the proud parent of a NHS Pasadena alumni student and currently serves as the Chair of the Finance Committee on the NHS Pasadena board of trustees. She has a background in accounting and audit and currently works in the finance field for a world wide investment company. Ximena, who joined the board three years ago, lives in Glendale with her husband Omar Ricci and their children Allia Al-Darmaki and Mariam Ricci.

Dalia Trad is a longtime supporter, volunteer and parent of two NHS Pasadena alumni. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and is a senior manager in the utilities industry. A member of the Islamic Center of Southern California for more than 30 years, Dalia lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband and former NHS Pasadena Board Secretary Tarik Trad and their two sons.

  Farah Bhatti

Farah Bhatti and her family moved to Pasadena in 2005, where she immediately became an involved parent at New Horizon School.  She and her husband have three children who all began their education at New Horizon. Farah’s volunteer involvement includes being a room parent, box tops coordinator, PTO scrip coordinator (2009-2013), PTO President (2012-2014), and most recently she joined as the chair of development on the NHS Pasadena board of trustees. Farah is a Canadian and graduated from Dalhousie University with a BScin Biology and a degree in dental hygiene.

Omneya Elhadary is a longtime supporter and proud parent of three NHS Pasadena alumni. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and a management degree, both from Cairo, Egypt where she grew up. Omneya has been in the Information Technology field for over 30 years, both in Egypt and the USA. A member of the Islamic Center of Southern California since moving to Los Angeles in 1992, Omneya lives in Pasadena with her husband and former ICSC board member Dr. Mohammad Kamal and their two sons and daughter.

Mohamed Etman is a long standing member of the community with deep ties to New Horizon and its vision. While he has always been an active member of the Islamic Center of Southern California, he joined the NHS Pasadena Board of Trustees in 2013. He works as a Realtor for the Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage in La Canada and earned his MBA from Loyola Marymount University.

Hala Alfi

Hala Alfi has been an active member of NHS Pasadena since its inception in 1984, helping establish the PTO and serving as the Chairman of the Board from 2011 to 2013.  Hala has also served on the boards of the Islamic Center of Southern California, the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the MPAC Foundation. Simultaneously, Hala worked in the area of financial oversight and corporate compliance at the clinical laboratory Alfigen, Inc for the past 25 years. All five of Hala’s sons attended NHS Pasadena and she continues to volunteer at the school. She resides in Glendale with her husband, Doug Burpee, and recently became a proud grandmother.

 Zeeshan Khan Zeeshan Khan

Zeeshan Khan began his real estate career in 2000 as an agent and property manager with The Quantum Associates, an Industrial and Commercial Real Estate firm based in downtown Los Angeles.   He has a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of New Delhi, India.  He has served on several Boards including New Horizon Los Angeles.  For over eight years, Zeeshan has shown deep commitment to the mission of New Horizon Schools and has enjoyed watching his daughters, Fatima and Jemimah, grow and thrive through their educational experience at NHS. 

Maryam Nouh

Maryam Nouh is a proud alumna of New Horizon School Pasadena, and she is honored to serve as a new board member. She attended La Canada High School and went on to pursue her undergraduate studies at UCLA. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and Society and then went on to study at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, from which she received her Master’s in Education degree. She currently teaches science at the Humanitas Academy of Art and Technology in East Los Angeles. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in social justice, and she works to foster scientific critical thinking skills and a spirit of collaboration in her students. She believes in the powers of Islam and education to truly transform society.
 

 Sani Abdul-Jabbar Sani Abdul-Jabbar

Sani Abdul Jabbar is a Senior Product Manager at VezTek USA, a digital product development and consulting firm with offices in the U.S. and abroad.  His notable list of clients includes Maxwell Forest (Australia), Warner Brothers Entertainment, DirecTV, Oakwood Worldwide, and Toyota Motor Sales.  Sani has an MBA from Eastern Illinois University and certifications through Stanford University for PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSM (Certified SCRUm Master).  With over 15 years of cumulative experience in project and product management, with the last 10 years in the mobile space, Sani has a proven track record of defining enterprise mobility and mobile product strategy and roadmaps.  His strategic vision and leadership skills serve him well in his work as NHSP Trustee.  He is also a father of two children who attend New Horizon.

  Ziad Khan

Ziad Khan is an architecture and planning design professional. His position as Principal with the firm Langdon Wilson International as their Global Design Studio Lead based in Los Angeles has led him to work all over the world in places such as Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Vietnam. His expertise span across wide variety of building typologies such as, Education, Hospitality/Entertainment, Master Planning, Healthcare, Residential, Office, and Civic-Government projects.

In addition to his work as a NHSP Trustee, Ziad also volunteers time to other non-profit organizations and has worked on pro-bono design projects for Masjid Bilal, Masjid Fatiha, Momin Lodge, Islamic Education Center, Minaret Academy, and CAIR. He has held steering committee positions with the Legacy of Hope a US-based arm dedicated to raising funds for the late Nelson Mandela’s mandate to build a children’s hospital in South Africa. He is also serves on the board of the 501-C Non-Profit Love the Sea.org, an organization dedicated to the elimination of plastic in our oceans.

Ziad is also a parent at New Horizon and joined the Board in 2017 to contribute his expertise and passion to the school’s strategic goals.
