History
New Horizon School began as a preschool in
1984, attracting students from all over the Greater Los Angeles area. The school
experienced tremendous growth in its early years, necessitating the addition of
an elementary school. In the fall of 1993, New Horizon opened its new campus for
students in preschool through sixth grade at its current location at the corner
of Orange Grove Boulevard and Cypress Avenue in Pasadena. Due to its strong
commitment to excellence, the school received accreditation from the California
Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and Western Association of Schools and
Colleges (WASC) in 1995. The years that followed focused on the development of
an exemplary middle school program. In 1999, New Horizon celebrated the grand
opening of a newly-constructed facility for Middle School. In the same year, New
Horizon was awarded a full term (six year) re-accreditation by CAIS and WASC.
