ADMISSIONS CHECKLIST (K-8)

SCHOOL TOURS	School tours are scheduled for Friday mornings. Please call the Admissions Assistant at (626) 795-5186 ext. 115 to schedule a tour if you are interested.
APPLICATION	Complete the Application for Admission and mail it or bring it to the school with the $60 non-refundable application fee by the date listed on the Admissions Calendar.
TRANSCRIPT RELEASE FORM	Give the completed Request for Transcript Form to an official in your child’s current school. Ask them to mail the transcript to NHS by the date listed on the Admissions Calendar.
TEACHERS’ RECOMMENDATION	Print the applicant’s name (your child) on the two Teacher Recommendation forms. Give the forms to two of the applicant’s current teachers and ask them to mail them to the school directly by the date listed on the Admissions Calendar.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION & STUDENT INTERVIEW	All candidates who have submitted the application and fee will be automatically scheduled to take the Entrance Exam. All candidates in 1st to 8th grades must take the Entrance Exam. For Kindergarten applicants, the school makes an assessment using Gisell testing. Once the application is submitted, the Admissions Office will call to set this appointment. Interviews for students with a member of the Admissions Committee are scheduled on the same date as the Entrance Examination.
FINANCIAL AID	New Horizon School offers financial aid to families with documented financial need based on an evaluation of eligibility and depending on the availability of funds. Families interested in applying for such assistance must complete special forms which are available upon request from the Business Office. The school does not process financial aid applications for new students unless and until the student is accepted.
