The artwork in the Garden, under the coordination of Heba Alfi, Art Director, added another element of beauty in the space. Local artists worked with members of the school community to add exquisite, customized art pieces. Leigh Adams also led the design and installation of the Peace Path, along with Iesha Wadala, then-NHS Garden Coordinator.
For the Friendship Fountain and Contemplation Circle, the school enlisted Jose Nonato, local ceramics artist, to create a customized look to the fountain. The Art Director and others selected the color palette reminiscent of the school’s colors and tiles with motifs resembling those of the Alhambra in Spain. The fountain is also in the shape of an 8-pointed star with tiles in the shape of an 8-pointed star.
At the center of the Contemplation Circle is a beautiful glass hand-made ceramic star designed by local artists, Reem Hammad and Carole Choucair Oueijan, with the support of Heba Alfi and other members of the school community.
Throughout the Salam Path, students worked throughout the year to create colorful ceramic pieces that were laid into the Path and delight you as you walk through the garden.
The Peace Wall Mosaic grew piece-by-piece with the help of students, faculty, alumni, alumni parents, and community during the course of one school year seeing its final installation on April 21, 2017.
