New Horizon School Pasadena is a warm and nurturing place that, for many, feels like home. With a strong community of caring teachers and supportive parents, the school fosters a climate of kindness and respect, open communication, and an appreciation for diversity among all of our constituents.
Parent Council
The Parents Club invites parents to get involved and help support the welcoming and nurturing feeling of community at the school. Parents Club also organizes various fundraising and community-building activities throughout the year. The Back-to-School Picnic, Nighthawk Walk, Teacher Appreciation Week, are just some of the activities they plan.
Parent Education Coffees
About four times a year, the administration and Parents Club bring parents together for a parent education session that usually involves a guest speaker. Topics include cyber safety, communication, nutrition, parenting in the modern world, and more. These coffees are usually scheduled for a Friday morning right after drop-off.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
SCHOOL-HOME PARTNERSHIP
A close partnership between home, school, and community is proven to be an important factor in children’s success at school. Parents can support their children and the school in many ways, from reading to their child at home to making sure they provide a quiet space for homework. Schools also depend on parents to support the school’s activities by giving their time, energy, or expertise.
VOLUNTEERING
Parents are also encouraged to volunteer at the school. They may choose from several different events such as the Back-to-School Picnic, Teacher Appreciation, Nighthawk Walk, Being a room parent, Garden volunteering, and more.
