New Horizon School Pasadena is a warm and nurturing place that, for many, feels like home. With a strong community of caring teachers and supportive parents, the school fosters a climate of kindness and respect, open communication, and an appreciation for diversity among all of our constituents.
Parents Club
The Parents Club invites parents to get involved and help support the welcoming and nurturing feeling of community at the school. Parents Club also organizes various fundraising and community-building activities throughout the year. The Back-to-School Picnic, Nighthawk Walk, Teacher Appreciation Week, Spirit Day sales, Ramadan date sales, private Facebook group, and Active Moms group are just some of the activities they plan.
Parent Education Coffees
About four times a year, the administration and Parents Club bring parents together for a parent education session that usually involves a guest speaker. Topics include cyber safety, communication, nutrition, parenting in the modern world, and more. These coffees are usually scheduled for a Friday morning right after drop-off.
Parent Involvement
School-Home Partnership
A close partnership between home, school, and community is proven to be an important factor in children’s success at school. Parents can support their children and the school in many ways, from reading to their child at home to making sure they provide a quiet space for homework. Schools also depend on parents to support the school’s activities by giving their time, energy, or expertise. While this often brings a certain satisfaction to many, these hours of service also count towards each family’s required “parent service hours.”
Parent Service Hours
The school has developed a comprehensive list of ways to earn parent service hours. We believe this list fulfills the school’s goal of providing families with more variety and flexibility in completing the necessary hours. We also hope that the list will more readily tap into the interests and talents of our parent body. However, if a parent has another way he/she would like to help in the school, please talk to the Lower School or Middle School Director or the Development Director. The list is available through the enrollment process and through ParentsWeb once a student is enrolled.

They may choose from several different committees such as the Back-to-School Picnic Committee, Teacher Appreciation Committee, Nighthawk Walk Committee, Development Committee, Community Service Committee, STEM Committee, Recruitment and Retention Committee, and Wellness Committee.
